Sports streamer DAZN has launched an original news service on its Italian platform in partnership with international media organisation Antenna Group.
The move expands the offering on the DAZN Italia platform beyond live sport, and marks the first time a news show in Italy has been devised specifically for a streaming-first platform.
The daily news programme, which launches this week, will feature Italian and international news, alongside sport, show business, and technology, using explainer formats and longer-form segments tailored for digital and mobile consumption.
The partnership builds on the collaboration between the two companies during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, when Antenna and DAZN jointly broadcast all 63 matches of the tournament in Greece.
Antenna’s media footprint spans 37 free-to-air and pay-tv and two streaming platforms across Europe, North America and Australia. It recently acquired GEDI Gruppo Editoriale, a leading Italian media organisation whose properties include the newspaper La Repubblica.
Antenna Group will establish and operate the news production unit for DAZN in Italy, overseen by senior editors at GEDI Digital.
Antenna said the partnership forms part of a broader strategy to grow its presence in Italy.
Antenna Group owned by Greece’s Kyriakou family. It is an investor in Hollywood production company Imagine Entertainment, Spanish language media organisation TelevisaUnivision and was an early investor in Facebook, Twitter (X), and Spotify before they went public. The Kyriakou family is also an investor in US media platform Semafor.
