IBC Innovation Awards Announced

The winners of the IBC Innovation Awards 2025 were announced at a ceremony at the Amsterdam RAI yesterday evening. Awards were presented across five categories in innovation and social impact, alongside honourees for IBC2025’s International Honour for Excellence (IHFE), Best Technical Paper, an IBC2025 Special Award and Accelerator of the Year.

– Pixboom camera ignites low-cost high-speed cinematography with a compact camera that can deliver up to 1,000 frames per second at 4K resolution, or 1800fps at 2K.

–Wisycom’s new Portable RF over fibre (RFoF)Box delivers long-distance RF signal transport in broadcast, film and live production environments where coaxial cables are impossible to deploy.

–AI-Media is showcasing Lexi Voice, its real-time AI voice translation software, in Hall 5, marking the solution’s official launch into the European market. 

–In Hall 7, EVS is debuting Tactiq, a modular interface that unifies the control of core production elements including video, audio, graphics, and lighting.

–Akamai did its first production customer event this week with its latest technology, Managed Container Service (MCS), which will be available next year.

“There is no modern equipment available to play back older sound correctly,” said 'How Becoming Led Zeppelin was Created' Director Bernard MacMahon. “When you go to a cinema that's playing an original nitrate print of the 1930s the sound is amazing, but nothing exists to transfer that sound off the film and put it on a Blu-ray.”

IBC2025 Live Blog: Day 1 (Friday 12) Highlights

IBC2025 kicks off in style on Friday September 12 with the IABM Industry Impact Briefing: Leading Successful Transformations in Media Business (09:15–10:15, Conference Room 1). With data-driven insights into the trends and technologies shaping broadcast media, it’ll also present the opportunity to engage with IABM’s State of MediaTech report for the first time. Moderated by IABM’s Chris Evans and Purminder Gandhu, speakers include Gareth Gordon (QTV), Nicola Cogotti (Alpha Cogs), and Stef Lone (AWS).

Over the past 57 years, IBC has played a pivotal role in the creation and dissemination of industry knowledge. In 2024, IBC welcomed 45,085 attendees from 170 countries, up from 43,065 in 2023 and 37,000 in 2022. The show floor hosted over 1,350 exhibitors across 14 halls, covering approximately 46,000 square meters of exhibition space, including the return of the Content Everywhere Hall 14.

For anyone attending IBC2025 in person, this year the IBC badge will also give you access to the entire Amsterdam public transport network. Content Everywhere companies drill down on agentic AI

This year’s IBC saw plenty of discussion about the practical applications of generative and agentic AI. This was particularly evident on the AWS stand in Hall 5, where a third of the demos by partner companies were described as agentic AI-driven. This month’s issue provides Content Everywhere companies with the opportunity to explain where and how they are using agentic AI, and how they see it evolving in future.
