At IBC2025, Rachel Kelley, Principal Business Development Manager of Global M&E at AWS, and Tim Bock, Head of Production Innovation at Prime Video, took part in a Future Tech stage session, which investigated how AWS is revolutionising traditional television production and post-production workflows by eliminating the need for conventional control rooms and OB vans.
The session explored how Amazon Prime Video is leveraging cloud technology for production, specifically through the example of the show 'Last One Laughing'. Tim Bock shared his extensive industry experience and described the evolution from physical tape recordings to cloud-based workflows, highlighting the logistical challenges and inefficiencies of past methods. He emphasised the transformative potential of cloud production, which offers greater efficiency, scalability, and sustainability. The demonstration of remote production from Sweden to Los Angeles showcased cloud capabilities such as reduced latency, enhanced security, and decreased equipment needs, driving significant cost savings and environmental benefits.
