France Télévisions has been named the winner of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU)’s Technology & Innovation Award for its proof-of-concept implementation of the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) standard.

The 2025 winners were revealed and honoured at the EBU Technology & Innovation Summit, hosted by Irish broadcaster RTÉ in Dublin from 5-6 June.
Both Awards are decided annually by the EBU Technical Committee, based on a tally of points assigned individually and secretly by each of the Committee members. The 2025 pool of nominations contained two dozen entries.
The Technology & Innovation Award recognised France Télévisions' efforts to address the growing need for verifying the origin and authenticity of digital media. The C2PA framework provides a technical foundation for ensuring traceability and trust in media assets.
The EBU said France Télévisions had played a leading role in applying this emerging standard in collaboration with media technology company Dalet. With Dalet, it developed and trialled an implementation that included the creation of a custom C2PA-enabled player for a minimum viable product.
The EBU Technology & Innovation Award jury noted the project’s relevance and timeliness, highlighting its potential to support content integrity and provenance verification across the industry.
Yannick Olivier from France Télévisions was honoured with the Young Technology Talent Award for his work during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he was instrumental in the implementation of ST 2110 technology to enable transport of uncompressed UHD with HDR, immersive audio systems, SDR/HDR resolution conversions, as well as enhanced connectivity for OB trucks.
