Netflix strikes ‘first-of-its-kind’ distribution partnership with France’s TF1

Netflix has agreed a ‘first-of-its kind’ partnership deal with TF1 which will allow its subscribers to watch the French broadcaster’s channels and on-demand content directly on its streaming platform.

Starting in summer 2026, the distribution partnership will see TF1 Group’s services – both live channels and streaming content from TF1+ – available to Netflix members in France as part of their existing subscription, without having to leave the service.

Audiences will be able to watch TF1 scripted dramas like Broceliande and Erica, soaps such as Demain nous appartient and Ici tout commence, unscripted franchises including Koh Lanta and The Voice as well as major live sports matches.

France’s largest commercial broadcaster, TF1 has long worked with Netflix as a creative partner, including on co-productions like Les Combattantes,  L’Agence and Tout le bleu du ciel.

But this takes the partnership a stage further. The unprecedented deal suggests that Netflix is interested in becoming an aggregator, giving a traditional broadcaster like TF1 an opportunity to access audiences who are increasingly viewing on major platforms like Netflix.

“This is a first-of-its-kind partnership that plays to our strengths of giving audiences the best entertainment alongside the best discovery experience,” said Greg Peters, Co-CEO of Netflix. “By teaming up with France’s leading broadcaster we will provide French consumers with even more reasons to come to Netflix every day and to stay with us for all their entertainment.”

Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of TF1 Group, said: "As viewing habits shift toward on-demand consumption and audience fragmentation increases, this unprecedented alliance will enable our premium content to reach unparalleled audiences and unlock new reach for advertisers within an ecosystem that perfectly complements our TF1+ platform."
