Netflix raises UK subscription prices

Netflix has raised the price of its UK subscription packages, lifting the cost of its cheapest tier by 33%.

The company’s standard plan with adverts subscription has risen from £5.99 to £7.99, up by a third. This means subscribers on the ad-supported plan will now pay £95.88 for a year’s streaming. This plan has increased from £12.99 to £13.99 (8%), while the premium plan has risen from £18.99 to £20.99 (10.5%).  

The new prices apply immediately to new subscribers, while existing members will see the change apply from their next billing date.

In the UK market, Netflix has over 18m subscribers. 

Netflix said the price rises “reflect improvements to our wide range of entertainment and the quality of our service.” 

The streamer added: “Our approach remains the same: we continue offering a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members, we reinvest in quality entertainment and improve their experience by updating our prices. We know members have never had more choices in entertainment, and we’re committed to delivering an experience that meets and exceeds their expectations.”
