Apple has announced some of the original immersive content that will be available on its Apple Vision Pro headset when it launches on February 2.
Apple Vision Pro features a pair of ultra-high-resolution micro-OLED displays with a combined 23 million pixels with wide colour, high dynamic range and Dolby Vision.
Apple describes the Vision Pro as “spatial computer” that blends digital content with the physical world, while allowing users to stay present and connected to others.
The content announced by Apple is produced with Apple Immersive Video and will be available on the Apple TV app on Apple Vision Pro at launched.
Apple Immersive Video is a new entertainment format that Apple says transports viewers to the centre of a story with 180-degree 3D 8K recordings captured with Spatial Audio.
The content includes Prehistoric Planet Immersive, a new short film and entertainment experience inspired by Jon Favreau’s Apple Original series Prehistoric Planet that will transport viewers 70 million years in the past.
Adventure is a new series taking users to the most remote places on earth to stand beside extreme athletes as they take on challenges, like highlining with pro Faith Dickey.
“Ever since Apple introduced me to this new technology, I’ve been intrigued with the opportunity to explore storytelling using these innovative immersive tools,” said executive producer and filmmaker Jon Favreau. “I’m especially proud to be featured in the launch of this groundbreaking product.”
Apple Vision Pro users can also access Alicia Keys: Rehearsal Room, a short film offering a glimpse into the Grammy winner’s creative process; and Wild Life, that brings viewers up close and personal with some of the most charismatic creatures on the planet.
Apple Vision Pro users will also be able to watch Apple Originals from Apple TV+, including Killers of the Flower Moon and STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie.
Users will also be able to access streaming platforms such as Disney+, Discovery+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock and Pluto TV.
