IBC Conference

At 09:30, the session “In Conversation with…Noel Curran, DG, EBU” will take place in Conference Room 1 (CR1). Since his appointment in May 2017, Curran has set out to move ahead with the changes necessary to secure the future of public service media while representing media organisations, content-makers and journalists all across the world. He developed his expertise in the public service media ecosystem within today's rapidly evolving media environment partly through his time RTÉ, Ireland's national television and radio broadcaster. While he was Director General (DG), Managing Director of Television and Editor of Current Affairs of RTÉ, Curran led RTÉ at a challenging time of editorial and financial crisis that began at the end of 2008, bringing the organisation back to financial surplus and championing the return of award-winning investigative journalism. At the show, Curran will discuss his journey through the industry, as well as his vision for the future.
