An IBC2026 conference panel of experts from OBS and Australia's ABC explored how they are using AI in day-to-day operations and strategic planning for the future.
According to the Chief Digital and Information Officer for Australia’s national public broadcaster, AI should be used judiciously. For the executive, the technology is best used either support content creators or the audience. Nevertheless, he warns those interested to remember: "Ultimately, what’s your differentiator if everyone is making content from AI?" Sotiris Salamouris, CTO, OBS, told the IBC audience that AI is already changing workflows for Olympics content production: "In Paris, we had 80,000 highlight clips that were automatically produced by AI".

“We hired Olympians to be the pilots. So the person who was doing the ski jump was an Olympic ski jumper himself, who started working with drones”, Yiannis Exarchos, CEO, Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), told the audience at IBC2026. For Oscar Sanchez, Head of Host Broadcast Production, FIFA, the introduction of the ref cam was an opportunity for the audience to understand how hard the work of a football referee is.

The audience at IBC2026 had a chance to interact with Tilly Norwood, known as the AI actress and performer created by Xicoia, the AI division of Particle6. The company’s founder and CEO, Eline van der Velden, responded to challenges by actors’ unions and said she’s excited about the future.

Global hit animated series Bluey had 1.5 billion hours of watch time on YouTube last year. "Everything that we create is rooted in data and responses from our fans," Simon Clarke, Director of Digital, Bluey, BBC Studios, told the audience at IBC2026.
Tilly Norwood gives first live interview ever at IBC2026
Under heavy security presence, controversial ‘AI superstar’ Tilly Norwood made her IBC debut in what was claimed to be her first live interview. Taking questions from the IBC audience, the “AI A-lister" offered up insights into "her" guardrails and parameters before creator Eline van der Velden, Founder, CEO, Particle6, progressed the conversation by framing the debate.
