Sky has confirmed plans for a major investment in an expanded Scottish office in Livingston, having submitted a full planning application.
Sky stated that the development will support thousands of jobs and drive regional economic growth in the West Lothian area of Scotland.
The proposals will extend Sky’s existing Livingstone site by an additional 15 acres, taking it to over 21,000m2 in size, and will be home to around 3,000 staff.
The campus will be designed with sustainability in mind, featuring an ultra-low-energy, three-storey building, powered by renewable energy, including onsite solar panels. The project will replace four existing buildings at Kirkton Campus and leased space on the Alba Campus.
Amenities will include event spaces, a meeting centre, café, restaurant, and activity-based workspaces.
The investment in Scotland comes four months after Sky was granted planning approval for the expansion of Sky Studios Elstree, Sky’s TV studio.
This expansion will enable a further 10 stages to the complex in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, and is expected to create over 2,000 jobs and attract £2bn of production investment to the UK within the first five years of operation.
Dana Strong, CEO of Sky Group, said: “Livingston has been home to Sky’s leading customer service operation for more than three decades, and this investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to the region and confidence in Scotland’s pivotal role in the UK economy. The campus development will support thousands of jobs and create opportunities for local businesses. Designed with sustainability in mind, it will set a benchmark for innovation and regional growth.”
Sky Studios Elstree recently received planning permission to add a further 10 stages to its film and TV complex in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. Discover more here.
