Chinese photography optics brand Kase has launched a new 85mm F1.4 full-frame prime lens for Sony E, Fujifilm X and Nikon Z mounts, promising strong low-light performance.
Its compact 13-element 10-group optical layout incorporates five ED low-dispersion and two high-refractive-index elements to suppress flare, ghosting, chromatic aberration and distortion, promising sharp, transparent imagery with true-to-life colour rendition even at full aperture. It also has a silent, efficient STM motor, which should allow fast, precise focusing.
It is built from aluminium, and the front element features a fluorine coating for water, oil and stain resistance and easy cleaning, making it lightweight (at 580g) for handheld shooting and gimbal mounting. It offers a short minimum focus distance (0.7m).
Physical controls include Fn1 close-focus shortcut, Fn2 focus memory, AF/MF toggle, stepped/stepless aperture switch and fixed F1.4 auto stop, with firmware upgrade support.
