Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) is showcasing a prototype of a scene-adaptive camera that dynamically adjusts the imaging parameter in each shooting area.
Drawing a lot of interest for this and other prototypes in Hall 14, NHK says the camera technology provides improved dynamic range and frame rate as it can control the shooting mode locally according to the luminance and movements of the subjects.
Kanda Kikufumi, Director of Science & Technology Research Laboratories, NHK, said: “It’s a prototype, but it is the first 4K camera that can adjust within each frame. It can adjust frame range, exposure, and make adjustments in frame.”
As a public broadcaster, NHK does not manufacture products on a commercial scale. It is now looking for collaborations to develop the scene-adaptive concept.
“We are ready to share that that technology We are looking for partners,” Kikufumi said.
