Now part of the Riedel Group, Arri has expanded its Multicam System with the new Alexa 35 Live Xtreme.
This camera features high-frame-rate output via SDI and includes permanent licenses for eight HFR outputs in HD or two in UHD. It reportedly enables productions to easily integrate cinematic looks into live multi-camera environments using a traditional baseband workflow.
Up to four HFR signals can be output via a single SDI connector, with higher speeds split across both SDI outputs, and when combined with the Arri LPS-1 Fibre Camera Adapter and Fibre Base Station, the system can be linked to a standard replay server.
Frame rates up to 330 frames per second use the camera’s full 17 stops of dynamic range (suitable for winter sports), while its sensor overdrive mode enables up to 480fps at 11 stops. The system simultaneously outputs a live feed for broadcast, so operators can switch between the programme frame rate and HFR in real time. Phase-blending provides control over motion blur and shutter effects in the live feed.
