Viaplay Group completes sale of Dutch operations

Nordic streamer and broadcaster Viaplay Group has completed the sale of its Dutch operations to Videoland for €142m.

Viaplay said the deal for its Dutch streaming and broadcasting operations, announced in July, had received the regulatory and lender approvals necessary to proceed.

Videoland is a streamer owned by Belgium’s DPG Media, which acquired RTL Nederlands from Fremantle owner RTL Group last year for €1.1bn.

Viaplay’s streaming service is available in every Nordic country. It also operates TV channels across most of its markets, as well as commercial radio stations in Norway and Sweden. Allente, a Nordic provider of TV and broadband services, is part of Viaplay Group.

The company’s Dutch operations generated sales of €149m in 2025. Viaplay said that total cash proceeds from the transaction are expected to reach around €100m after transaction costs, restructuring costs, and future payments in relation to legacy multi-year agreements.

It said the proceeds will be used to reduce the group’s net debt level, and that it will consider refinancing its outstanding borrowing facilities to reduce the borrowing levels and costs.

Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, President, CEO, Viaplay Group, said: “Now that the transaction is complete, our resources are fully focused on our operations in our core Nordic markets, where we have the greatest scale and synergy potential. The proceeds will enable us to reduce net debt levels and strengthen our financial position as we continue our work to deliver increased profitability and positive cash flows.”
