Global Sport Group (GSG) has named Andrew Georgiou as its CEO.
Georgiou will join the sports group in the first quarter of 2027 from Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), where he heads its UK and Ireland business and is also its lead for sports and streaming across EMEA.
News of Georgiou’s new role comes just months after Paramount-owner Skydance completed its acquisition of WBD.
Founded in 2025, GSG is backed by private equity firm CVC and brings together its investments in eight leagues and competitions including La Liga, Volleyball World, Ligue 1, Prem Rugby, United Rugby Championship, Six Nations, WTA Ventures, and Equine Network.
The company was created to support CVC’s sports league investments and unlock new commercial opportunities.
Marc Allera, Chair, Global Sport Group, said: “Andrew is an exceptional leader and exactly the kind of CEO appointment that reflects our ambition for GSG. He combines deep knowledge of global sport with a proven track record of building businesses, developing major partnerships and creating commercial value to reinvest for the benefit of the fans, athletes and other stakeholders in the sport.”
Georgiou added: “There is a significant opportunity to accelerate the value GSG can bring to its portfolio partners, combining expertise, relationships and capabilities across sport, media and technology, to help these leagues realise even more of their potential for the benefit of fans and players.”
When reporting strong viewership results for the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) coverage of the Olympic Winter Games for Milano-Cortina 2026, Georgiou recently provided a comment on the Los Angeles 2028 and French Alps 2030 Olympic Winter Games. Discover more here.
