Omdia’s Paul Erickson: “Live sports have proven to be the most reliable high-engagement driver”

At the “Streaming of Live Sport: Have We Reached a Tipping Point?” session on the IBC2025 Content Everywhere Stage in Hall 4, industry leaders highlighted that the industry today is in a mad race to acquire sports rights.

Paul Erickson, Principal Analyst of Media and Entertainment at Omdia, stated: “Over decades, live sports have proven to be the most reliable high-engagement driver of subscriber acquisition and retention in the streaming video market today.”
