The four biggest shows on Netflix in the first half of 2024 hailed from the UK, according to the streaming service’s latest biannual viewing report.
Netflix’s Engagement Report, covering the period January to June 2024, reports that Fool Me Once headed the list of most watched shows with 108m views, followed by season three of Bridgerton (92m), Baby Reindeer (88m) and The Gentlemen (76m).
Netflix’s 280m subscribers watched 94bn hours’ worth of programming on the service in the first half of the year, up from about 90bn hours for the second half of 2023.
The top 10 series list also includes the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender (71m), Griselda (69m), American Nightmare (55m), 3 Body Problem (52m), Money Heist spinoff Berlin (48.5m) and One Day (39m).
On the film side, the Millie Bobby Brown-led thriller Damsel was the most-watched title — series or movie — of the first half of the year with 144m views.
Non-English stories were also popular, making up nearly a third of all viewing.
Titles from Spain like Society of the Snow (104m) and Berlin (49m) as well as Korea’s Queen of Tears (29m) and Parasyte: The Grey (25m) led the way.
Other notable breakouts include France’s Under Paris (85m) and Italy’s The Tearsmith (53m).
Elsewhere, the Bridgerton universe brought in 189m views in the first half of 2024.
