Video software provider Synamedia announced that Office de Radio et Télévision des Comores (ORTC), the national public broadcaster for the Comoros Islands in the Indian Ocean, has begun using its self-service SaaS platform Quortex Link to distribute its channels to French content providers.
According to Synamedia, ORTC used to take weeks and significant capex to set up connections using satellite infrastructure. It claims that this can now be achieved in seconds with Synamedia’s pay-as-you-go IP distribution technology while cutting costs by 90%.
Distribution to the first content provider is reportedly now live, with four more ISPs coming on stream shortly.
Hablani Assoumani, General Director of ORTC, said: “It was important that we weren’t locked into a long contract, and Quortex Link gives us that flexibility while providing the high levels of reliability we require. We also have the confidence that Synamedia can meet all our needs in the future as we look for features including blackout management and customised transcoding to meet the different resolution and bit rate requirements from different affiliates.”
