The initiative forms part of Netflix’s wider strategy to move into the AI space. Earlier in 2026, the streamer acquired Ben Affleck’s AI startup company, named InterPositive, to use AI in post-production.

The streamer is reportedly hiring for roles including Inkubator’s Head of Technology.

The Verge said that job listings for Inkubator describe the studio as a “next-generation, creative-led, genAI-native animation studio,” with plans to “bridge innovation with imaginative storytelling.”

Inkubator’s long-term technology strategy will focus on “genAI-enabled workflows, artist tooling, and scalable, secure multi-show environments,” according to one job listing. “We aim to develop feature-quality content,” said another listing.

It is not yet clear what kind of AI-generated short-form content the studio will produce.

The streamer recently added a TikTok-inspired vertical video feed called Clips to its mobile offer. Discover more here.
