After years of development and spectrum policy work, Sennheiser is using IBC to unveil a digital wireless ecosystem boasting the world’s first bidirectional wideband technology.
Spectera uses Sennheiser’s WMAS (Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems) technology to reduce wireless system complexity while increasing capability, and offers full remote control and monitoring, including permanent spectrum sensing.

Instead of using many individual 200kHz narrowband RF carrier frequencies, Sennheiser wideband transmission allows for flexible use of the wideband RF channel, such as for digital IEMs, with a latency down to 0.7ms. The Spectera bodypack handles both mic and IEM audio, plus control data, in the same wideband RF channel, while its 1U rack-mount base station handles up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs audio links.
Greg Beebe, Executive Vice President, Sennheiser, said: “To get this to be a global solution, there has been a huge joint effort of all the technology development teams and our spectrum policy teams working with the regulators. The solution is completely different to everything on the market.”
