The Film and TV Charity has opened up applications for the second round of funding from the launch of Reel Impact, its programme to support and uplift experienced Black and Global Majority talent.
Following feedback from round one, the Charity has made several changes for round two, refining grant eligibility and the application process.

Individuals can apply for grants up to £10,000 to support personal development while organisations can apply for funds up to £25,000 to support organisational development or for work to advance race equity.
The application criteria have also been updated to better reflect the focus on mid-senior level Black and Global Majority talent.
Peer Assessors have also been introduced to ensure Black and Global Majority voices are at the heart of the decision-making process.
The Charity is also underlining the importance of securing applications from across the UK, recognising regional, not just London talent.
Created in 2022, Reel Impact was designed for experienced mid-to-senior level professionals, as opposed to those starting out in the industry, to recognise that these individuals are already skilled at their craft but often remain disadvantaged by the industry.
Previous awardees include organisations such as the TV Collective, Wonder Women, FilmD Hit, and Mama Youth Project, with individuals including Dean Leon Anderson, Georgie Yukiko Donovan, and Samantha Fray.

I am also excited to see what projects and activities emerge from the next round of funding applications. With improvements made to our processes and more clarity on what we are looking for, I hope that applicants will apply for a chance to bring their visions to life and ignite much needed change in the industry.
