Earlier in his career, Benet led the television production of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games and served as Director of the Olympic Channel before co-founding Mediapro in 2000 alongside Jaume Roures and Gerard Romy.

The company established itself as a partner for Spanish football’s LaLiga domestically and internationally. However, earlier in 2025, LaLiga awarded its production contracts to Host Broadcast Services (HBS) and Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA).

Mediapro employs nearly 7,000 professionals across 50 offices in 28 countries and has revenues of €1.068bn.

Broadcast Media Services, the company’s audiovisual services division, reportedly operates one of the largest fleets of outside broadcast (OB) units in the world, producing more than 25,000 live events annually across the globe. Its other units include Mediapro Studio, the group’s content creation, production, and distribution arm. Furthermore, Mediapro’s channels and OTT unit produce and operate up to 15 channels, including partnerships with operators such as ESPN and Movistar.

Benet said: “I take with me the experience of the past 30 years, and the immense talent and humanity of the more than 55,000 professionals who have worked at the group. I’m confident that this new chapter – one in which none of the three original founders remain – will be just as successful as the past three decades, which have seen Mediapro Group, a company born and raised in Catalonia, become a global benchmark.”

Spain’s Mediapro recently formally withdrew its complaint over the selection process for awarding the host broadcaster contract for Spain’s LaLiga football league. Discover more here.
