Katharina Frömsdorf has been named CEO of German streamer Joyn.
She will report directly to Bert Habets, CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Group, which owns the streamer.
Frömsdorf is currently Managing Director of ProSieben’s Seven.OneAdFactory, Studio71, Buzzbird, MMP and is responsible for Seven. One Audio.
Tassilo Raesig, CEO of Joyn, and René Sahm, CFO and COO of Joyn, are leaving the company by mutual agreement due to differing views on the future direction of the platform.
ProSiebenSat.1 Group took full control of Joyn in September 2022, having previously owned 50% of the shares in local streaming platform with Warner Bros. Discovery.
Alongside Frömsdorf, Nicole Agudo Berbel and Benjamin Risom are also joining the Joyn management team.
Habets said: “Katharina Frömsdorf stands for strengthening synergies between divisions, successfully developing companies and, above all, creating a large whole from several divisions. This is exactly what we need for the full integration of Joyn into the Seven. One Entertainment Group.
Frömsdorf said: “Joyn has all the ingredients to become the leading ad-supported streaming service in the German-speaking region. I look forward to working with the great Joyn team and the combined power of Seven. One Entertainment Group to take our streaming platform to the next level.”
“We are proud to have built and shaped Joyn as an independent company over the last few years and to have developed Joyn into one of the leading streaming platforms in the German-speaking region together with our great and talented team. With the full and deep integration of Joyn into the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, a new chapter now begins. We wish the new management and their teams every success and all the best for the future,” said Tassilo Raesig and René Sahm.
