HBO Max to launch in 14 Asia-Pacific markets

Warner Bros Discovery will launch its streaming service HBO Max in 14 markets across the Asia-Pacific region next month.

HBO Max will go live in markets such as Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka on October 15.

The expansion continues the service’s gradual international rollout following earlier launches this year in East Asia, Australia, Eastern Europe, and Turkey. It is nearing availability in over 100 territories worldwide.

HBO Max is set to launch in the UK/Ireland, Germany, and Italy in early 2026 – bringing an end to its carriage deals with other broadcasters.

The global expansion is steadily strengthening Warner Bros Discovery's position in the fiercely competitive international streaming market, where rivals such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ have significant subscriber bases.

The new launches align strategically with HBO’s upcoming original series IT: Welcome to Derry, which premieres on October 27. The Stephen King-inspired drama features an ensemble cast led by Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and Bill Skarsgård.

HBO Max is home to brands such as HBO, Harry Potter, the DC Universe, Cartoon Network, Max Originals, Warner Bros movies, Discovery, TLC, AFN, Food Network, ID and HGTV.

HBO Max will offer subscribers Hollywood hits like Superman, Sinners and Final Destination Bloodlines, as well as HBO and Max Originals such as House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The White Lotus, The Penguin, and The Pitt.

JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “Following successful launches in Australia and Europe earlier this year, the global expansion of HBO Max continues to bring unparalleled entertainment to more fans across the world. By the end of the year, HBO Max will be available in more than 100 markets, with more to come in 2026, including major launches in Germany, Italy and the UK.”
