What drives global viewership? Key insights from 2024

Streaming viewership is largely driven by convenience with 63% of audiences citing on-demand access as a primary reason for engaging with online content. However, regional preferences and behaviours vary significantly, influenced by factors such as genre demand, viewing habits and platform availability.

When analysing what different regions prefer to watch, comedy remains universally popular, but regional differences highlight distinct audience preferences. UCAN and EMEA audiences share a strong preference for action, crime and adventure content, reinforcing their appetite for high-intensity, narrative-driven entertainment.
