Streaming platform Roku has unveiled its first significant update to its home screen in over a decade.

According to the company, its new UI offers a more dynamic, smarter experience for its more than 100 million streaming households.

The home screen has been designed to offer audiences more relevant recommendations and faster pathways to content while maintaining Roku’s straightforward and relatively simple UI.

New features include ‘Quick Access’ for viewers’ most-used apps and an expanded, intelligence-driven, content-first ‘Top Picks for You’ section.

There are also new genre-based destinations such as ‘For You’, built for a viewer’s interests with personalised picks, and ‘Subscriptions’, which enables viewers to browse and discover from across all their subscriptions in one place.

Roku announced last month that it had surpassed 100 million users on its streaming devices and Roku TVs.

Anthony Wood, Founder and CEO of Roku, said: “When we set out to rethink the Home Screen, we knew we should listen to the people who use it every day. So we talked to the viewers, we tested extensively, and we pushed until the design and the data lined up for a meaningful update. Now, our new home screen puts entertainment at the centre of everything, while staying true to Roku’s simple, intuitive roots. More than 100 million households will feel the difference the moment they turn on their TV – and it opens up a better, more powerful experience for our partners as well.”

Roku recently revealed it will launch Roku TV Smart Projectors in the United Kingdom from June 2026 on Amazon. Discover more here.
