BBC Studios Productions has hired Alice Taylor to head its newly launched AI Creative Lab, following the initiative’s unveiling in July 2025.
Taylor joins BBC Studios from The Walt Disney Studios, where she led its StudioLAB programme, an initiative focused on production and content innovation.
Her career spans senior roles at BBC Worldwide, the previous commercial arm of the BBC, Channel 4, and as CEO of MakieLab, with a longstanding focus on interactive entertainment and the creative potential of emerging tech.
In her new role, Taylor will serve as BBC Studios Productions’ principal advocate for AI in creative production, ensuring that Lab output is innovative, ethical, editorially sound, and technically robust.
She will also be charged with building a small, specialist team of AI creatives, technologists, and producers at the lab.
The AI Creative Lab was launched to be a hub for experimentation to explore how AI can unlock new possibilities, from concept development to production workflows.
Taylor takes up her new role at BBC Studios on 17 November 2025 and will report directly to Zai Bennett, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of BBC Studios Productions.
Bennett said: "Alice brings a rare blend of creative vision and technical expertise, and we’re thrilled to welcome her back to the BBC. Her leadership will be instrumental in shaping how we use AI to tell stories in bold, imaginative ways, while staying true to our editorial values and creative integrity."
