French pay-TV group Canal+ has acquired exclusive rights in all languages of the clubs’ Men’s European cups in Sub-Saharan Africa from mid-2027.
The deal covers UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, and the UEFA Conference League games in more than 40 countries until 2031.
The deal was struck with UC3, which manages the commercial rights for UEFA club competitions.
The agreement reportedly marks the first time subscribers on Canal+ Sport in French-speaking countries of Africa will be able to watch Europa League and Conference League matches alongside the flagship tournament, the Champions League.
Canal+ also retains exclusive rights in English- and Portuguese-speaking countries on the continent, with its broadcaster SuperSport set to continue to carry the competitions.
Maxime Saada, Chairman of Canal+, said: “Our sports offer is today the most attractive in all countries of sub-Saharan Africa. The acquisition of these rights illustrates this perfectly. We extend our sincere thanks to UC3 and the relevent teams for the confidence they are showing us again, after our recent agreements in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, and Austria.”
Canal+ recently acquired the rights to the UEFA Men’s Club Competition in several key European markets for four seasons from 2027/2028 to 2030/2031, while Disney+ has struck a deal for UEFA Champions League matches in Sweden for the first time. Discover more here.
