BBC News channel launches on YouTube in the UK and USA

The BBC has revealed that its BBC News channel will stream live on YouTube in both the UK and the USA from Thursday 15 October 2026.

The trial will offer viewers comprehensive coverage of international and domestic news, major political developments, business, technology, culture, and breaking events, supported by BBC News' global network of journalists and correspondents.

The launch is part of the BBC's wider YouTube strategy to reach new and younger audiences where they are, and ensure viewers can access reliable, impartial news from the news organisation. The UK and USA join a growing list of countries where the BBC News channel is available on YouTube, including Australia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Poland.

Anjali Kapoor, Director, AI, Innovation, Growth, BBC News, said: “Audiences increasingly expect news to be available wherever they are, on the platforms they use throughout their day. Launching the BBC News channel on YouTube in the UK and US is an important step in bringing our trusted journalism to even more people. It will make it easier for audiences to access live coverage of the stories shaping our world, while helping us reach new audiences in the places and at the times that work best for them.”

Alison Lomax, UK Managing Director, YouTube, added: "It is an incredible milestone that YouTube's audiences in the UK, US, Australia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Poland can now access BBC's live news channel, making trusted news even more accessible to a new generation of digital-first viewers".

The BBC News channel is also available on BBC iPlayer, the BBC News website and app in the UK – and on cable, free ad-supported streaming television (FAST)/connected TV platforms, BBC.com, and the BBC app in the US.

BBC Director General Matt Brittin first announced his strategic intention to bring the BBC "where audiences are" in May 2026. Discover more here.
