Abstract
BT Sport has been investigating the feasibility of live sports HDR production since the summer of 2015. Since then we have tracked the development of the two principal providers of Broadcast TV Sports Cameras and Vision Mixers, Grass Valley and Sony and worked with the development teams to characterise and debug the end to end system with a view to being able to deploy a fully viable HDR sports service.
This paper presents our findings from the first half of 2019 of the concepts and interactions of live HDR production as they are applied to practical Broadcast Production and Contribution Systems.
