Abstract
The contribution first explains the blockchain technology from a technical perspective. The concept of smart contracts is described which allows hosting executable code inside blockchains. In the second part we present a schema how metadata and rights contracts can be stored in a blockchain and how the relations are established. In the last part we sketch a system for automated execution of usage rights contracts. A discussion closes the paper.
