Tech Papers 2025: This paper addresses the problem of delivering C2PA information in a streaming workflow without making changes to the media elementary streams.
Abstract
The need for increased trust in media is burgeoning given the evolution of generative AI and the deliberate spread of misinformation and fake content. The C2PA specification has been developed to enable content consumers, distributors and creators to understand the provenance and authenticity of content. This paper addresses the problem of delivering C2PA information in a streaming workflow without making changes to the media elementary streams. The presented proof of concept (PoC) implementation uses C2PA to describe the authenticity of media being streamed using DASH. The approach adopted in the described PoC is to communicate the relevant C2PA information through the data of event messages in an event message stream that can be part of the presentation at the representation level.
